Logging Bench Supply

Open

Every bench supply forgets what it just did. Ours shouldn't.

The question

Why does a bench supply show you the current right now and remember nothing? Half of debugging is asking what the current did thirty seconds ago.

Where it stands

Unbuilt, and it keeps growing every time it is discussed — which is why it is on this list rather than the active one. The minimum version is a logging shunt that sits between any existing supply and the board under test. The version we keep sketching is a whole supply, and that is a much larger project.

03Bench log
19 Jan 2026

Logged after losing a transient that only appeared once.

11 Apr 2026

Scoped as a full supply. Too big.

02 Sep 2026

Re-scoped as an inline logging shunt. Still unbuilt.

04Next step
Next

Build the inline shunt version only. Refuse the full supply until the shunt has earned it.
